Storytelling Motivates Reading

This workshop covers the theoretical background of the Orality->Literacy Connection. Fran relates her experience motivating reluctant and/or handicapped students into eager reading with enhanced oral and written language development, and offers a wide range of curriculum-connected, story-based activities (to justify "taking time" for storytelling in class). You will learn how to use experiential small group exercises to teach student story-retelling to enhance verbal fluency and inspire the quest for additional (print) stories.
